Amending rules

Updating the rules

Having played the game now several times (solo) some points in the rules came up that I think affect the playability of the game. Firstly there's the question of backtracking. Currently the game's rules don't yet clearly specify whether you can backtrack and what would happen.

I'm looking at two options. The first is that no backtracking is allowed. This obviously makes the game quite difficult as you're faced with, essentially, a one way street. However this nicely plays into the "memory" aspect of the game - remember your steps well.

The second option is that backtracking is allowed - i.e. you can recede on your steps and take another turn from an earlier tile you've stepped on. This makes the game less complicated so there should be some form of penalty for backtracking.

In combining the two - i.e. the memory aspect and the backtracking penalty aspect, I've thought of a solution that requires you to hide all tiles (i.e. turn them face down) but the last two you've moved from. You can move from any of these tiles.

The story hook to tie this into the rules, is that you're moving through a dungeon trying to avoid the guards - and that guards are returning as you keep on moving.

I'm going to update the rules soon - keep an open eye for these! In addition I'm still working on the artwork as well as a videogame version (with a larger board, called Heptakrupt).
